EPA and Toxic Chemicals
Description
Chemicals are everywhere. But some things--like electronics, car parts, and other staples of modern life--may be made with chemicals that could harm human health or the environment. By law, EPA is required to evaluate the risks of some of these chemicals. The law establishes deadlines for key steps of EPA's process. So far, EPA has started risk evaluations for 30 chemicals. But we found that the agency missed most of the deadlines. Check out our report for more details on EPA's toxic chemical reviews and a recommendation to help the agency pick up the pace.
