Navy Acquisition: Development of the AN/BSY-1 Combat System

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the evolution of the Navy's AN/BSY-1 Combat System, focusing on: (1) the extent to which AN/BSY-1 program requirements differ from those established for the Submarine Advanced Combat System (SUBACS) program; (2) status and results of AN/BSY-1 developmental testing and evaluation; and (3) impact of combat system development problems on the Los Angeles class nuclear attack submarine (SSN-688) construction program.
