Fast Facts

In 2017, we made a combined total of 61 recommendations to the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Of the 41 recommendations made to State, 11 were still open as of May 15, 2019, and 3 of those were priority recommendations. Priority recommendations are those we believe warrant priority attention from heads of key departments and agencies.

Of the 20 recommendations made to USAID, 5 were still open, and 2 were priority recommendations.

For example, we recommended that both agencies find ways to improve how they monitor assistance to Syrian refugees in areas that U.S. personnel can't visit.
