Rashmi Agarwal is an Acting Director in GAO's Defense Capabilities and Management team. She oversees GAO's work on defense health readiness, business enterprise cost efficiencies, and Department of Defense budget and cost tracking.

Rashmi joined GAO in 1999. She previously served as an Advisor in the Office of Congressional Relations where she supported the Armed Services, Foreign Affairs/Relations, Intelligence, and Veterans' Affairs committees. She also served as an Assistant Director in the Health Care team where she led reviews on a wide range of health care topics across multiple federal programs and the private sector. In particular, she helped lead portfolios of work examining prescription drug pricing and pharmacy management, the Department of Veterans Affairs' health care budget and Medicaid services for opioid use disorder for pregnant women and children.

Rashmi earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Honors and a Master of Science in Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
