J. Lawrence Malenich

Larry Malenich is the Managing Director of the Financial Management and Assurance team. The team’s mission is to help improve and transform the government’s financial management and operations to meet existing and emerging critical accountability challenges and ensure stewardship of financial resources.

Larry joined GAO in 1991, and previously served as an Assistant Director and Director in FMA, in addition to being a Congressional Advisor in GAO’s Congressional Relations Office. He has experience in leading both financial and performance audits across a broad range of federal and private sector entities and programs.

Larry earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Francis College, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
