Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on the Resolution Trust Corporation's (RTC) Affordable Housing Disposition Program's (AHDP) open house held on May 11, 1993. GAO noted that: (1) the purpose of the open house was to highlight AHDP successes and provide information on single and multifamily property sales to new congressional members and staff, newly appointed federal agency officials, and national nonprofit organization and public housing agency representatives; (2) the open house was held at RTC headquarters and was attended by about 300 people; (3) several congressional members commented on RTC effectiveness in creating affordable housing; (4) information on how to purchase single- and multifamily properties under AHDP was distributed at 6 RTC field office booths; and (5) the total cost of the open house was about $13,885, of which $704 was spent on audio services, $839 was spent on catering services, and $12,342 was spent on travel and hotel expenses.
