GAO reviewed The Environmental Protection Agency'S (EPA) and the Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) new rule on 2017 and later model year light-duty vehicle greenhouse gas emissions and corporate average fuel economy standards. GAO found that (1) the final rule contains final regulations to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy for light-duty vehicles for model years 2017 and beyond; and (2) EPA and NHTSA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
