Department of Energy: Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Residential Refrigerators, Refrigerator-Freezers, and Freezers
GAO-12-103R, Oct 4, 2011
GAO reviewed the Department of Energy's (DOE) new rule on energy conservation standards for refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. GAO found that (1) the final rule adopts more stringent energy conservation standards for refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. DOE states that it has determined that the amended energy conservation standards for these products would result in the significant conservation of energy and are technologically feasible and economically justified; and (2) with the exception of the 60-delay in effective date, DOE complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
