Environmental Protection Agency: Rule to Reduce Interstate Transport of Fine Particulate Matter and Ozone (Clean Air Interstate Rule); Revisons to Acid Rain Program; Revisions to the NOx SIP Call
GAO-05-717R: May 25, 2005
- Full Report:
GAO reviewed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new rule on the rule to reduce interstate transport of fine particulate matter and ozone. GAO found that (1) the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), requires 28 states and the District of Columbia (upwind states) to revise their state implementation plans (SIPs) to include control measures to reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and/or nitrogen oxide (NOx); and (2) EPA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
