Department of Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration: Food Labeling: Trans Fatty Acids in Nutrition Labeling, Nutrient Content Claims, and Health Claims
GAO-03-1019R: Jul 22, 2003
- Full Report:
GAO reviewed the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) rule on Food Labeling. GAO found that (1) the rule would require that trans fatty acids be declared in the nutrition label of conventional foods and dietary supplements on a separate line immediately under the line for the declaration of saturated fatty acids, and (2) FDA complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
