In response to a congressional request, GAO commented on certain provisions of proposed legislation which would reform the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). GAO had no comments on the major provisions of the bill relating to fee schedules and the revision of certain exemptions from disclosure. However, GAO stated that it does not favor provisions of the bill which would expand the GAO role in assessing agency compliance with FOIA requirements.
