The Supreme Court granted a GAO petition for a writ of certiorari in Bristol Laboratories Division of Bristol-Myers Co. v. Staats. In that case, a United States court of appeals had affirmed a decision granting GAO access to the firm's records pertaining to direct manufacturing costs, but it denied GAO access to records pertaining to indirect costs such as research and development, general, administrative, promotional, and marketing.
