Every 2 years at the start of each new session of Congress, GAO publishes our High Risk List. This list is a collection of areas at high risk for waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement, or areas in need of broad-based transformation. With this new 2013 list, GAO has added two new areas. First, we have added mitigating potential gaps in weather satellite data. We all know in the wake of Superstorm Sandy how critical such weather data can be. We've also added limiting the government's fiscal exposure by better managing risk from climate change to the list. Thanks to progress Congress and the Executive Branch have made in the past 2 years, we are also removing two areas from the list--Management of Interagency Contracting and IRS's Business System Modernization. Solid progress has also been made in addressing many of the items remaining on the list for now. With focused attention and reform, improvements in the 30 areas now on the list could lead to billions of dollars in savings for taxpayers, dramatically improve service to the public, and strengthen confidence in the performance and accountably of the federal government. I hope you will explore our website to learn more about our High Risk List and our recommendations to improve the performance of our government. Thank you.
